How To Do Daily Affirmations For Positive Thinking Easy And Fun
“Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.” – Henry Ford
Over the years, whenever I read it, I thought it was true, and I felt I got the essence of it. But when I started making affirmations for positive thinking, I realized that my thoughts and actions didn’t reflect this belief or the understanding of it, that many of my problems were negative thinking, endless judgment, criticism, and not believing in myself. Daily affirmations for positive thinking helped me have a positive mindset and reprogram my thought patterns so that, over time, I began to think—and act—differently. If you are interested in how to do daily affirmations for positive thinking, easy and fun, please read below.
What Are Affirmations?
“The thoughts we choose to think are the tools we use to paint the canvas of our lives.” – Louise Hay
When repeated daily, affirmations are positive statements that can help you overcome negative thoughts and self-sabotaging. Depending on the words or phrases you choose to repeat daily, positive affirmations can help you achieve many self-help goals, successfully help with low self-esteem, depression, or other mental health conditions and stimulate the areas in our brains that make us more likely to affect positive changes regarding our health.
Well known for her positive affirmations, Louise Hay, an American motivational author and the founder of Hay House, explains that every thought you think and every word you speak is an affirmation. “All of your self-talk, the dialogue in your head, is a stream of affirmations,” Louise Hay says. “These affirmations are messages to your subconscious that establish habitual ways of thinking and behaving.” She suggests, “When you catch a negative thought, just think to yourself, ‘This is an old thought. I no longer choose to think that way. Then find a positive thought to substitute for it as quickly as you can.”
Are Affirmations Effective For Positive Thinking?
“An affirmation opens the door. It’s a beginning point on the path to change.” – Louise Hay
Many scientists, doctors, and psychologists have done countless studies on positive affirmations over the years, with remarkable positive results showing that repeatedly saying these phrases makes it possible to build new neural pathways in the brain, strengthening positive thought patterns. The human brain comprises billions of neurons, cells that send messages between different brain regions. When we think, neurons fire electrical impulses along pathways in our brain, which makes those neurons more sensitive and strengthens the pathways. We reinforce that path by repeatedly thinking about something, making it easier to fall into that thought in the future. Positive affirmations help us disrupt negative patterns, which helps us take a different path. When we intentionally tell ourselves a new idea, instead of falling back on the old way, we build a new pathway in our brain, and over time, that pathway strengthens, and it’s easier to have positive thought patterns.

“The secret to getting ahead is getting started.” – Mark Twain
When you start saying positive affirmations, it can feel uncomfortable, dishonest, or downright silly; at least, that’s how it felt to me. I tried different options found online, different techniques, and apps, but I couldn’t get past the feeling that I was lying to myself. Then I discovered Émile Coué’s formula, “Every day, in every way, I get better and better.” finally, the feeling that I was lying to myself disappeared. After a while, I started to pay attention to my thoughts during the day and changed the negative thoughts that I repeated to positive ones several times through the day.
Daily affirmations can be a simple and enjoyable habit that will keep you upbeat and inspired. There are different techniques you can try. You can say them out loud, tell them in front of a mirror, or say them in your mind. You can keep a diary to help you record your thoughts during the day; it can help you realize what you say to yourself every day and how it influences you. It will help you be even more aware of what kind of affirmations you need to eliminate negative thoughts.
However, sometimes it can be challenging to stay motivated to do them every day. Here are some easy and fun ways to incorporate daily affirmations into your routine:
Please be straightforward:
Choose affirmations that are simple for you to recall, repeat, and believe. Avoiding affirmations that are too difficult or don’t feel genuine would be best.
Have fun with it:
It would help if you injected your affirmations with comedy or fun. Adding a ridiculous rhyme or humorous twist can make your affirmations funnier.
Make it a Game:
Turn your daily affirmations into a fun game by creating a checklist or a bingo board. Each day you complete your affirmations, mark them off your list, and reward yourself when you hit a particular milestone.
Employ visual aids:
Use photos to illustrate your affirmations or make a vision board. Use uplifting sayings or affirmations as desktop or phone wallpapers to keep them in your line of sight.
Establish a schedule: Include regular affirmations in your morning or evening routine; it can make remembering to perform your affirmations easier and help you create a consistent habit.
Record Yourself:
Record yourself saying your affirmations and listen to them while you’re getting ready in the morning or during your commute. Hearing your voice say positive things about yourself can be a powerful motivator.
Use affirmations in your meditation practice:
Incorporate your affirmations into your meditation practice by repeating them silently to yourself during your meditation.
Mix it up:
Change your affirmations regularly to keep them fresh and exciting. You can also create affirmations for specific areas of your life, such as work, relationships, or health.
Believe in them:
Believe in the power of your affirmations and their positive impact on your life. When you say your affirmations, do so with conviction and belief.
Appreciate your accomplishments:
Whenever you reach a milestone or make progress, take time to recognize your efforts, it might keep you inspired and motivated to keep using affirmations.
Remember, the key to making daily affirmations easy and fun is to find a method that works for you and to make it a consistent part of your routine. When your inner critic comes up, remember that it is only one voice, and you are no longer giving it power. The best part of this practice is that you can do it anytime, anywhere. With dedication and persistence, you’ll soon start seeing the positive effects of daily affirmations.
Which Is The Best Affirmation?
“A good affirmation has five basic ingredients: it’s personal, it’s positive, it’s present tense, it’s visual, and it’s emotional.” – Stephen Covey
The affirmations that will work best are personal ones, write them yourself and make them meaningful, it makes the process much more powerful, plus you can choose the specific affirmations that will suit your needs. Writing effective affirmations doesn’t have to be a difficult or tedious process; find a quiet place where you can be alone and focus, keeping the following in mind:
- Make sure the affirmations are in the first person, always in the present tense. Your affirmation should refer to something you want or need in your current reality, not something you hope will happen or dream of as a future goal.
- Affirmations must be positive. Focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want to happen.
- Don’t start statements with “I want” or “I need.” Never use words like desire or want because that is what you will get in your life.
- Start statements with “I” or “My.” Because you’re making a statement about yourself, it’s most effective if it starts with you.
- Express gratitude in your affirmations. You can start some of your affirmations with “I am so grateful that…”.
- Include the emotions you want to encourage more of in your life. You can connect with the feelings behind the words and the vision they create, which supercharges your affirmations. Of course, focus on the positive emotions rather than the feelings you would like to avoid.
- Build short statements. They are easier to remember if they are short and specific to you.
- Handwritten your affirmations. It might take longer, but it is much more effective; areas of the brain associated with knowledge and remembering are more involved when you write by hand rather than typing.
